The home stretch

We are down to the last week! Toe molding was added mid-week. The floors are now finished and look amazing, particularly the bedrooms.   

Window screens are nearly finished. and the brackets to hang them have been added to the exterior.

The kitchen and bathroom sinks are FINALLY back from the re-finisher and ready to be installed.

The toilet has been purchased and is ready for installation. The verbiage on the box cracks me up.

The door hinges and window hardware have been cleaned and painted.  Doors to be hung this week.

The ceiling fans have been installed in all the rooms and on the front porch.

The chandeliers in the kitchen are now installed as well.

I just ordered the last light fixtures (God bless Amazon Prime!). Time to schedule the furniture delivery and then on to decorating and move-in.

Project fatigue

I've hit a wall. I'm tired of making decisions. And the last things seem to be moving SOOO SLOOOW that I haven't felt like doing blog posts. But things are continuing to progress both inside and out.  By October 1, the kitchen cabinets, shelves, and doors had been painted.

 

All the doors had either been painted or stained.

And the tile in the bathroom had been completed.  Unfortunately, it's a little curvy (note the arc where the shower head will be) and will need to be pulled out and re-done. Grr.

By last weekend, all the exterior painting was just about completed, but they were still working on the window screens.

The electrical finish-out had also begun.  Ceiling fans were installed in the the bedrooms and living room, sconces were installed, and most of the plugs had been installed as well.

And in the kitchen the cabinet doors were affixed with new hardware that is identical to the original hinges.

 This week, the floors were sanded and prepped.  And yesterday they started applying the finish. (I didn't notice until I saw this picture that the original glass knobs for the kitchen cabinets were put back).

Rather than staining, we leaving the floors natural.  There are couple different kinds of wood (the living room and dining room had what would have been more expensive back in the day).  Each room looks a little different. And the floors are certainly not perfect, but considering their age, I'm amazed at the condition.  This is the flooring in the laundry room right after they applied the top coat.
